Lying immediately before majestic Edinburgh Castle, the Castle Esplanade hosts in late summer of each year the internationally acclaimed Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Since its inception in 1950, more than 12 million visitors from around the globe have come to experience the colour, splendour and stirring sounds of the massed pipes and drums of the Scottish Regiments, as well as to see at first hand dazzling displays of precision military drill.

From this high vantage point with its fabulous views over the city, many visitors are shocked to discover that between the late 15th and early 18th centuries at this precise location as many as 300 women suffered the horrific and terrifying fate of being burned at the stake for the crime of witchcraft. Glasgow, Scotland is home to the Theatre Royal. This beautiful Scottish landmark has been around since the later part of the 19th century and has since had its share of fires and disasters. The present facade of the Theatre Royal is perhaps the only thing that remains of the original. Throughout its lifetime the Theater Royal had many prestigious performances including those conducted by the Scottish Ballet and the Scottish Opera.

The first theater is the original auditorium within the building of the Royal Theatre, it was constructed in 1867, but it unfortunately burned down twelve years later. During its time, it bore witness to great Scottish plays and dramas. After the fire, the theatre was rebuilt by C.J. Phipps, who was one of the most revered architects in the world. Aberdeen situated on the North East coast of Scotland is well known for its clean and friendly atmosphere, and the clear cut lines of its architecture emphasized by the strong and sparkling granite buildings. The city of Inverness can trace its history back to at least the days of the Picts and has been a stronghold since those times.

It is located where the River Ness joins the North Sea and the river helped to give the city its name. In Gaelic, the word Inverness literally means “mouth of the Ness”. If you’re keen, you can brush up on your Gaelic: around one in 20 of the locals in Inverness are able to speak this language.
